As an employee in a WPEA bargaining unit, you
have the right to be
represented by WPEA for any matter involving
employment interests -- both as an individual and in a group
grievance -- as outlined in WPEA's
Collective Bargaining
Agreements. WPEA CBAs establish
grievance procedures to which management must respond
promptly and fairly.
WPEA staff work together with workplace Job
Representatives to advance the cause of our members. We
strive to not only to protect and defend member rights, but
also to expand those rights! WPEA is committed to providing
effective representation to each and every member. If you
have a problem with your employer and you need
representation, we will prepare and present your case.
WPEA provides professional representation and protection
of our members'
workplace rights through:
Contract Negotiations
WPEA members decide the issues and WPEA staff direct
negotiations for collective bargaining
agreement with the State for agencies and institutions
with WPEA represented members.
Grievances and Appeals
WPEA staff and Job Representatives provide aggressive
representation of grievances through formalized
procedures to ensure contract provisions and rules are
followed by management.
Legislative
and Political Action
WPEA sponsors and monitors legislation affecting our
members according to goals set by members at the Annual
Meeting. We encourage all members to political activists
within their Legislative District to ensure
public-employee friendly lawmakers are elected.
Personnel Boards
WPEA staff attend all regulatory
board meetings on
behalf of our members to ensure that any proposed
workplace or job class changes are properly bargained
with the union.
Communications & Education
WPEA informs the members of key issues affecting
them through monthly District Meetings, legislative
updates, our web site, e-mail action alerts, and the
union newsletter WPEA Today. WPEA
also provides Job Representative training to assure effective
advocates in the workplace.
Classifications & Compensation WPEA provides representation on class studies and
reclassifications to ensure you are paid for performing
duties assigned. We also monitor the Department of
Personnel's Classification
proposals and provide feedback.
