Shop stewards
Shop stewards are employees just like you who have volunteered to help their coworkers with union-related matters. Stewards have received special training in member advising, member representation, contract enforcement and management relations, and they can be consulted confidentially on a variety of workplace issues.

Overtime offered at many colleges
On March 30, 2012, WPEA began an unprecedented campaign to fight the unfair 3% salary reduction being imposed on classified community college employees.
While we were not successful in overturning the salary reduction at first, we have been successful over time in convincing many colleges to “mitigate” the salary reduction by providing overtime training opportunities for classified employees.

Special Circumstances: Bellevue, Clark and Pierce have earned “fairness points” by applying the salary reduction to management and/or faculty personnel in addition to classified staff. Columbia Basin and Skagit Valley are temporarily unable to mitigate.
