WPEA mourns loss of Yakima member

9/28/2017

Picture
Friend, colleague, and WPEA member Debbie McBride has passed away.

Deborah Ann (Debbie) McBride passed away at home in Naches at age 60 on September 22, 2017. She is survived by her husband Glen McBride; children Shawn McBride, Nick & Paulina McBride, Tara McBride & Josh Gamble; mother Pat Cook; sisters Marie, Sue, Cindy, Diane, and Julie; grandchildren Adria, Aris, Preston, Gavin, Bella, Madison, and Vivian; and many nieces and nephews.

Debbie worked in several print shops throughout Yakima, ending her career at YVC. She enjoyed working at the college and always spoke fondly of her coworkers. Debbie has worked at YVC since August of 2000, initially as the Copy Center Lead, and most recently as Digital Printing Specialist.  She always had a smile, kind words, and a willingness to accommodate everyone’s needs.  When not working she enjoyed photography, traveling with her husband, and being a doting mother and grandmother.

  • Evaporated Milk
  • Canned Olives
  • Canned Yams

As always baby food, baby cereal, formula and high protein foods (i.e. peanut butter, canned chili, beans) are always appreciated.

WPEA will be collecting donations!  Donations due November 15th at WPEA Headquarters.
140 Percival St. NW Olympia, WA 98502.  Can't make it to our Olympia location?  Contact us at (360) 943-1121 ext 107 to find out how you can become involved.

Beware of scam email supposedly from AFSCME

9/11/2017

Some state employees (both WPEA members and AFSCME members) have received phony scam emails dated today, Sept. 11, that there is a furlough in a few days. It is a scam, repeat, a scam to get you to fill out a form to gain your personal, private information. To be clear, AFSCME did not send out any email like this. There is no furlough on September 13, and no action you should take - other than ignoring the email.
