Janus Decision Day Solidarity Rallies

5/31/2018

On Wednesday, June 27, the US Supreme Court will release its decision in Janus vs. AFSCME.
In Janus, the Court is expected to impose so-called “Right to Work” on public employees throughout the nation. This is the culmination of a decades-long legal attack financed by corporate special interests and right-wing billionaires.
But we won’t allow a court decision to stand in the way of our fight for better wages, good jobs, and safe workplaces. That’s why on Janus Decision Day, Washington’s workers will show we are more resolved than ever to stick together!

Join a Solidarity Rally near you:

WEDNESDAY, June 27, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

  • Everett - Worker's Memorial Courtyard (by the Snohomish County Courthouse) facing Wetmore Ave (map)
  • Seattle – Harborview Park, 8th and Jefferson, Seattle, WA 98104 (map)
  • Spokane – Rotary Fountain in Riverfront Park, 507 N. Howard St., Spokane, WA 99201 (map)
  • Tacoma – Federal Courthouse, 1717 Pacific Ave, Tacoma, WA 98402 (map)
  • Vancouver – Fort Vancouver Way & E. Mill Plain Blvd., Vancouver, WA 98663 (map)

On Monday mornings, check www.TheStand.org between 7 and 8 a.m. or SUBSCRIBE to The Stand for an email notification when the decision happens.

Can’t make it to a Solidarity Rally?
  • Wear your WPEA blue to work to show that you support public employees’ right to stand together in a union.
  • Post to Facebook, Twitter, or other social media using the hashtags #FreedomToJoin and #UnionStrong. Let people know why you support unions. Tell your story about how you, your coworkers, or your community have benefited from having a seat at the table to negotiate for better wages and safer workplaces.

If corporate special interests and anti-union politicians are successful in tearing apart our union, we know what will happen next. The politicians will roll us. We’ll see pay cuts and more outsourcing. Our tax code will get even more rigged.
This is why it’s more important than ever to raise our voices and stick together. Let’s show them we’re not afraid of their attacks on public employees. Show them that you’re going to keep fighting for better wages, safer jobs, and stronger communities.
