Collective Bargaining Update

Negotiations are now underway for each of the three WPEA collective bargaining agreements, including agreements for Higher Education, Yakima Valley Community College, and General Government that expire June 30, 2009.

“I’m impressed by the caliber of the teams,” said WPEA President Greg Parker. ”Each bargaining team member can be relied upon to keep the larger concerns of their respective WPEA membership groups in heart and mind during their negotiations.”

Delegates Elected to International Convention

Ballots were received and counted, electing five delegates to attend this summer's UFCW International Convention in Montreal, Canada. From the 707 ballots cast, the elected delegates are:
Bill Johnson, Department of Revenue
Steve Martin, Department of Natural Resources
Linda Fryant, Local 365
Fawn Hacker, Local 365
Luis Moscoso, Local 365

These members will be joined by WPEA President Greg Parker and Union Secretary/Treasurer Earl Kalles, who are constitutional delegates, as they travel to Canada August 18-22.
