Pierce College Survey
At the request of classified staff, the Pierce College
Job reps conducted a 'climate survey' at the end of
August which WPEA mailed to employees homes. The goal
was to identify issues in the workplace impacting
employees both positively and negatively. We learned
from the survey results that there are broad issues and
concerns regarding supervision, communication,
collaboration and recognition that are of great concern
to our members. These issues and concerns were
subsequently brought to the attention of the board of
Trustees and high-level administrators. In December, the
job rep committee met with our two campus Presidents and
the Vice-President of Extended Learning to discuss the
results and what brought us to this point. At that time
a commitment was made by all parties to clearly identify
what the issues are and to begin a process to address
and seek resolution to these issues.
