50 years experience
has taught us that the more members are directly involved
in the process of strengthening our union, the more successful we are in winning our
issues! Through active
member participation, WPEA is effective in achieving
member goals.
Bargaining Unit Members
Take individual actions (write letters, picket,
grieve, sign petitions, appear en masse, contact
legislators, support or oppose political candidates,
etc.) and participate in group actions at both the
bargaining unit and statewide level.
Job Representatives
Educate
new employees on the union contract and the importance of
a strong, active membership. Represent coworkers in
disciplinary meetings, advocate for positive changes at
the worksite, investigate possible contract violations,
and assist with the grievance process.
Executive Board
Made up of the union President, Secretary/Treasurer,
Recorder, and one Vice President from each of the 11
districts, the Executive Board makes decisions on the
governance of the union by establishing goals and
policies on behalf of WPEA as a whole. They also provide leadership, ideas, review,
and support of group
actions at the statewide level.
Annual All Member Meeting
All members are welcome to attend and
participate in establishing union goals and policies and adopting
legislative programs on behalf
of WPEA statewide.
Also conduct nominations for WPEA/UFCW
Local 365 Executive Officers, as needed.
Staff
Professional staff with years of
training and expertise coordinate and
support collective bargaining, legal
actions, education, communications,
legislative and political action, board testimony, and
group actions with WPEA member leaders
at the local and bargaining unit level. |
