Hello, my name is ____, I'm a state employee working at ____, and I'm writing as a member of the Washington Public Employees Association. I'm asking you to commit not to balance the budget by hurting state employees: vote NO on pay cuts (SB 5792) and NO on cuts to public employee health insurance (SB 5793). State employees have steadfastly provided vital public services in the face of recessions and a pandemic. We've stretched, we've done more with less, and we've worked hard to serve the people of Washington state. But over the last 20 years, we've seen our purchasing power fall by more than 20%. And now, the governor and legislative budget writers are proposing an additional 4.5% pay cut and new limits to our rights to bargain over health care. We're the people who make the state run; but for years the state has treated us like a troublesome expense. With every new cut, the state chases away talented, dedicated workers, and makes life harder for those of us who stick around. It's time to stop this awful cycle. Please take a stand for public service and commit to rejecting SB 5792 and 5793. Ways & Means Members
