WPEA Union Discord

The WPEA Discord server is our union’s online gathering space, open to all WPEA members. Whether you’re attending a UNITY meeting or just want to check in during the week, Discord is where we stay connected across workplaces, share updates, and organize powerfully. ​

​Contract Bargaining Observation:

We encourage you to join the Zoom sessions and participate in the discussions on Discord. Let’s make our voices heard and our solidarity stronger!

The Zoom link and upcoming bargaining dates can be found on our Discord server under Events. Members are welcome to attend our bargaining session with the office of financial management as observers to witness negotiations firsthand.
Opening bargaining to all members is a significant step in increasing transparency and encouraging collective action. By observing, you’ll see exactly how we’re advocating for fair and reasonable terms, and how much stronger we are when we work together.

​New Requirement: The employer now requires the name and employer of any observer. If you plan to attend, be prepared to provide this information.

​Observer FAQ

  • Can I talk to the bargaining team?
    No. To avoid disrupting their critical work, all communication with the bargaining team will take place on Discord through designated channels.

  • Can I talk to the OFM negotiator?
    ​ No. Observers are there to watch, not to interact directly with the state negotiator or the bargaining team.

  • Can I watch the sessions during work time?
    No. Observing is only permitted during your break, lunch, or approved time off.

  • Can I use work equipment to join?
    We strongly discourage using work devices to avoid any potential disciplinary actions from the employer. Please use a personal device, such as your phone or personal computer, to participate.

Zoom Guidelines for Observers

When joining a Zoom session for bargaining:
  1. Change your display name to “Observer - (your name)”
  2. Mute your microphone.
  3. Turn off your camera.
  4. Set your profile picture to the 2024 Bargaining logo.

Additional Tips for Using Discord

  • Work and Break Time: Use Discord during breaks, lunch, or approved time off. If you’re using it on a mobile device, ensure it doesn’t interfere with your work responsibilities.
  • Work Equipment: Avoid using employer devices to join Discord to protect yourself from potential disciplinary actions.
