IT Re-class Update

10/7/2020

WPEA is working to speed-up the Director’s Review process at the Office of Financial Management (OFM) for our IT membership.

We have inquired about the number of WPEA members still waiting for an initial review of their IT reclassification, and we discovered that there are about 155 members still waiting for the Director’s review. We further understand that the Director’s office is reviewing approximately 30 reclassifications per month. A letter has been sent to OFM requesting that they make a more concentrated effort to review more requests in a timelier manner. We also asked to meet with the Director to determine what WPEA can do to help this effort progress faster.

In the coming days we are also trying to determine how many of the initial reviews were rejected and how many members appealed that decision to the Personnel Review Board. WPEA wants to know the status of those appeals as well. When this process started over 2 years ago, the public sector unions bargained with OFM to make sure that all the affected members would be able to request a director’s review. Now that many of our members have done so, we must push to get their requests evaluated. We will be sending emails regularly as well as phone inquiries to keep the attention on those members that continue to wait. We will keep updating you on our progress as we continue with this effort.
