Objective Build overall union strength and infuse WPEA revenue by increasing total membership percentages at all bargaining units statewide.
Basis To utilize the solidarity and enthusiasm of all existing WPEA members to bring the membership back to pre-Janus level numbers.
Participants Open to all WPEA members in good standing.
Method Any current WPEA member in good standing, who successfully signs up any WPEA represented bargaining unit employee who has worked in a WPEA position for at least six (6) months will be paid an incentive. The incentives are paid in the form of gift cards per the schedule below. Incentive 1: $25 Incentive 2: $25 Incentive 3: $25 Incentive 4: $25 Incentive 5: $25 Incentive 6: $25 Incentive 7: $350 Incentive 8 and beyond: $50 There is no time limit on the recruitment of any individuals for this program.
Communications Once a member has conversed with a bargaining unit employee and the BU employee is interested in active membership the member should reach out to the WPEA Organizer by email. The member should email the BU employee’s first name, last name, and organization they work for, and the WPEA Organizer will follow up. If the BU employee signs up for membership because of that conversation, the incentive will be paid out to the existing WPEA member who sent the email.
Conflicts If two individuals refer the same BU employee, the member who refers the BU employee first will receive the incentive.
Exclusions This incentive does not apply if the bargaining unit employee was signed up as a member under the Welcome Back program in the previous 24 months. Executive Board members are not eligible for the Welcome Back incentive. Discrepancies will be resolved per the discretion of the WPEA President. This program is subject to change by the WPEA Executive Board.
