Union Executive Board This training provides an overview of the 13 elected positions that make up the union's Executive Board, including the responsibilities and compensation for each role.
Collective Action This training outlines an escalation plan for collective actions, starting with passive visibility efforts, moving to active information sharing and coordinated actions, and culminating in potential short-term and long-term work stoppages or strikes as a means to pressure management and effect change around workplace issues.
How to Share Your Voice This training empowers workers to confidently engage in conversations with co-workers about union issues, offering tips on starting discussions, addressing common questions, and building collective strength through shared actions like wearing blue on Wednesdays.
Letter Writing This training introduces participants to the power of letter-writing campaigns as a tool for collective action, guiding them through the preparation, participation, and follow-up process to ensure they confidently contribute to campaigns that amplify their collective voice and influence management decisions.
Mandatory Subject Notices This training explains what Mandatory Subject Notices are, provides examples of changes that require notice, and outlines the process of filing a Demand to Bargain when negative impacts relating to the change are identified and need to be lessened through bargaining.
Grievances This training covers the grievance process, including the 4 steps, best practices for handling grievances, and ways to prevent grievances in the first place.
Position Descriptions and Position Reviews This training defines position descriptions, outlines the key components, and explains the position review process for when job duties change significantly over time.
Leave Types and Uses This training provides an overview of various types of leave that employees may accrue and use. It explains the rules, eligibility criteria, and procedures for using each type of leave.
Contract Bargaining Part 1: Teams and Priorities This training outlines how the contract bargaining team is formed, how priorities for proposals are set, and the processes involved in preparing for negotiations.
Contract Bargaining Part 2: Bargaining, When It Goes Right This training describes the ideal bargaining process when both parties negotiate in good faith through an exchange of proposals and counters to reach tentative agreements on updated contract language.
Contract Bargaining Part 3: Bargaining, When It Goes Wrong This training covers strategies for overcoming roadblocks and obstacles when negotiations don't proceed smoothly, including raising public awareness, applying economic pressure through actions, pursuing legal options, and navigating stalemates or impasses.
Contract Bargaining Part 4: Voting, Approval, and Enaction This training covers the processes of ratifying tentatively agreed contracts through member voting, obtaining necessary approvals from legislative bodies or local boards, and the implementation steps to enact new contract terms after ratification and approval.
Contract Ratification This training covers the contract ratification process, explaining key proposals for wage increases, telework rules, and safety protections. Learn how dues-paying members can vote on the contract and stay informed as we approach critical bargaining deadlines.
